Don Manley was born and raised in suburban Pittsburgh and now resides on Marco Island, Fl. He is a graduate of Point Park University in the Steel City where he received a degree in Journalism & Communications.
Don has written for a variety of newspapers over the years, including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Wilmington News-Journal, the Philadelphia Inquirer and in Florida, the News-Press, Florida Weekly and the Marco Island Sun Times. He has also had stories published in a variety of magazines.
Along the way, Don has been fortunate to garner several awards for his work, including:
First place in the Keystone Press Awards for news coverage in the weekly category
First place for best reporting of local government affairs in the West Virginia Press Association Better Newspaper Contest
Second place in the Florida Better Weekly Newspaper Contest for arts, entertainment and review reporting
Second place from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association Award for public service reporting.
Second place United Press International Ohio Newspaper Award for best news series.
Today, Don is a freelance writer for an assortment of publications, in addition to his assignments with Jacobs Writing Consultants, LLC. And of course, he has his eyes set on publishing a novel, which will be his first.
