Carissa Lourcey - was born and raised in the Washington, D.C., area. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Journalism and a Master of Arts in Teaching from University of Maryland University College. She volunteered as the editor and news director of her community newspaper for two years. She has tutored children in reading and writing. Not only is she adept at editing, but she also enjoys writing poetry and has published her own book, "When Willows Weep."
